Metal Singing & Guttural Singing Techniques

In-Person and Online

A specialty of my instructional offerings is teaching and coaching guttural vocal techniques.

These include:

-Undertone Singing (Kargyraa)

-Shouting (False Chord & Fry-Scream; Death Shout)

-Screaming (False Chord & Fry-Scream)

-Growling (Death Growl & Normal Growl)

-Inhale Shouts

-distortion of the singing voice (Distortion, Rattle Voice)

I have my "roots" in rock and metal, which is why I was drawn to these types of singing styles during my studies.

When I was singing in a metal band myself, I became more intensely involved with how guttural techniques worked and how it is quite possible to let the voice produce such sounds without long-lasting damage.

In my lessons, I teach the basics necessary to learn and apply guttural sounds in a way that is easy on the voice.

Additionally, I help singers improve their own metal singing techniques, get voice problems under control, and develop a proper balance between guttural and "clean" singing.

As part of my intensive work with guttural singing techniques, I am also involved in research.

I work together with the renowned Freiburg Institute for Musicians’ Medicine to find out more about the anatomical and physiological processes involved in performing guttural singing techniques.

The lessons you receive from me are not only based on my own experience as a teacher and performer, but also on scientific findings!
